The stud has 22 years' experience breeding Limousins and running a commercial crossbred operation using Limousin bulls over British Breed cows. Our yearlings have won many prizes at the Teys Southern Grassfed Carcase Classic, including 1st in Pen of Three Steers and Reserve Champion. We supply Hardwicks of Keyneton amongst others and the buyer says our young stock are the best he sees anywhere - just what his customers want so he pays accordingly. We breed the traditional type of Limousin with the original muscling, which means extra yield, and are proud members of the Limousin Muscle Alliance, which believes in breeding stock having two copies of the F94L Limousin muscling gene.
Hybrid Vigour always results from crossbreeding but using a European Sire such as Limousin over British Breeds further enhances it.
Overwhelming proof from research projects shows that Limousins have the best feed conversion efficiency of all popular breeds, an attribute that can only become even more significant in the future.
As a butcher friend says "If you are a dairy producing milk you use the breed which produces the most milk so if you are a grazier producing beef why on earth wouldn't you use the breed which produces the most beef" - He means Limousin of course.
